About the researcher: Shirin is interested in understanding factors that influence health vulnerabilities especially in rural regions and Indigenous populations. As such, her thesis focuses on factors influencing the food security status and health of Inuit Seniors in Nunatsiavut, one of the four Inuit Settlement Regions of Northern Canada. Shirin comes to this research having worked on several Indigenous environmental health research projects through the Nasivvik Centre for Inuit Health and Changing Environments. She is a tutor for the Indigenous Environmental Studies/Sciences Resource Centre and a marking assistant for the course IESS 3730 ‘Indigenous Peoples, Health and the Environment’.
